Sustainably Lighting up the World
As a Custom Lighting manufacturer, our mission really is to ‘Light up the World.’ But as mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and human beings, we are also dedicated to protecting the planet and the environment. Sustainability, thoughtful materials selection, how we source vendors, and internal office and work ethos are all at the forefront of LASPEC Lighting’s core values. Here are a few ways we are dedicated managing a more sustainable and eco-friendly factory:
Sourcing Materials Locally: We source about 80% of the materials we use, locally here in Southern California. That means less packaging waste, less trucking, less air freight fumes, less fuel usage and overall a lower carbon footprint.
Choosing Vendors who use Recycled Materials: We’re proud to work with vendors who use recycled materials as often as available, which is quite often! From our sheet metals, to hand-blown glass, to acrylic, office materials and even packing materials, we are using recycled materials as often as possible. The list continues to grow…
Doing our own Recycling: Our factory in Los Angeles is strategically situated in a highly-industrial neighborhood, which has made it easy to be a low-waste manufacturer. We are proud to recycle our own scraps of metal, glass, acrylic, paint and other, re-use boxes, shred paper to use for packing.
Air Quality Inspections: As a factory in the highly-regulated State of California, we have to pass a LOT of inspections, both local and AQMD, as regulated at the State level. Our paint and finishing booth, as well as our entire factory, is inspected and certified.
Work with Certified Plating Companies: Plating metals is a chemical and fumes heavy process, that despite being costly and difficult, can be necessary. When a project calls for plating, we work with only select plating specialists who have passed all State and Local inspections.
Ethos and Human Centered Approach: We believe that pollution isn’t just about how we treat the planet, but also about how we humans treat each other. As an American Manufacturer, our clients know that all California Wage regulations are being met, where our overseas competitors often have questionable employment practices and standards which often translate to low pricing. Respect, hospitality, and a human-centered approach to our partnerships is at the center of what we do.
