Electrical - Lamping - UL Listing

What electrical power is used in international projects?
Depending on the country, power supply is usually 110-220V for incandescent and 110- 220-277V for fluorescent. Always indicate the final destination of the product to assure correct use of wiring, sockets and ballasts.

Should designers be concerned about total wattage of selected fixtures?
Yes. In new projects, the electrical engineer needs to know wattage of each selected light fixture in advance to design appropriate wiring and dimming system. In renovation, maximum wattage of new fixture must be at or below existing circuits to prevent over loading.

What compact fluorescent bulbs can I use?
A lighting designer can recommend the correct bulb type for your project. Generally, depending on application, size of the light fixture and required lumens, bulb types PL13, 18, 26 and 39 are commonly used.

In recent years, "CFM-compact fluorescent with medium base" have become very popular in decorative fixtures where light bulbs are not visible. They are used instead of medium base A19 bulbs, screw directly into the same socket and are available in various wattage. CFM in "candle base" is now also available with limited range of wattage. PL bulbs are used with originally designed products. CFM bulbs are retrofits. PL bulbs are more economical to replace.

Are your products U.L. approved?
Yes. Both standard and custom products are UL listed and labels affixed.

Can UL listing be used for international projects?
UL standards meet and exceed requirements of all industrial nations and is widely accepted.
